My piece "I Dreamed I Went Swimming in the Sea" was longlisted for LitMag's 2022 Anton Chekhov Award for Flash Fiction! I am delighted! I feel encouraged, as I am still submitting it to literary journals for publication.

I was slated to be on a panel titled "Do Words Heal? Writers on the Power and Difficulty of Writing Pain and Trauma" at the
AWP (Association of Writers and Writing Programs) Conference in San Antonio, Texas in March of 2020. My fellow panelists were Marita Golden, Mitchell Jackson, and Alison C. Rollins, with Cleyvis Natera as our moderator. Unfortunately the panel was cancelled at the last minute due to the start of the pandemic, but it was an honor to be included.

My essay “Ten Seconds” was published in this anthology from Simon & Schuster
, Us Against Alzheimer’s: Stories of Family, Love, and Faith. It’s edited by Marita Golden and features writing by Edwidge Danticat, Julie Otsuka, and Sallie Tisdale, among others. Buy it in bookstores or online!

I am on the editorial board of a wonderful independent press, Wandering Aengus Press. We publish poetry, nonfiction, and fiction. Please consider submitting to its annual book awards contest, and to its imprint, Trail to Table.

I was delighted to give a reading at the Orcas Island Lit Fest in April 2019, along with Elizabeth Austen, Kathleen Flenniken, Sam Gailey and Finn Menzies.
